"12.5" A Temporary Work in Progress with Synfire assistance

While helping Earthmuse fix a script of his, I used some of the "debug" noatikl MIDI output from a few runs of the script and loaded the material into Synfire Pro for some chopping and crude arranging. The noatikl material was essentially generated in random keys, but inside Synfire pro I ...

Re: 64-bit DAW issues...noatikl VST doesn't work (Sonar 8.02)

Yeah, I just found LoopBe too. I was so used to using MidiYoke, then I found out that it doesn't work on 64-bit correctly. The single cable version of LoopBe is 100% free. The 30-port version is like ~$20.

Resolved: 64-bit DAW issues...noatikl VST doesn't work-Sonar

I'll moved up to a 64-bit OS to make full use of my RAM (in preparation to Omnisphere's 64-bit release) and noticed that noatikl doesn't pass MIDI (in Sonar 8.02 at least) under the 64-bit host via the "sequencer pipeline" method Sonar does have support for running 32-bit plugins in its 64...

Re: Noatikl listening to a microphone ???

I'll have a bit more experimenting with it. I think it might have to do with the semitone shift stuff. EDIT: yeah it does, and it is an odd beast. If the shift is at 0, it doesn't work. (I'm using interval within a scale rule) If I set it to 1, it does work, but everything is shifted by 1. So to get...

Re: Noatikl listening to a microphone ???

I've been playing with listening voices a bit and there is some odd behavior even when just using monophonic notes...it isn't working like I would expect. It seems that no matter what I do, the note that comes in to be processed is automatically sent out the voice. So I am unable to modify the origi...

Re: Noatikl listening to a microphone ???

These guys make a neat pitch-midi transcription helper program, but also release their product in VST format for pitch-midi conversion. The best part is that they do an Audio Units version of their plugin and Windows/Mac version of the VST. Something like that might be worth investigating because it...

Re: Noatikl listening to a microphone ???

The only way I could imagine this happening is if you had a Pitch-to-MIDI VST plugin running in a host. Probably a standalone host (not a sequencer) would be optimal; ie: something not tied to a strict timeline, and can just be enabled and run indefinitely. The listening part could be covered easily...

Re: VST as Hyperinstrument in Ableton?

You probably want to avoid using midi Yoke ports in a sequencer because depending on how it is opening them, it could be echoing ports behind your back, etc. which could cause those problems. Trying using MIDI Tracks and sequencer pipeline in noatikl to redirect the input from controller into noatik...

Re: VST as Hyperinstrument in Ableton?

What are you using to generate MIDI events to send to noatikl? As far as I can tell, you can't have noatikl send MIDI events back to itself without having a feedback loop. You'd have to use an external keyboard or another event generator like an arpeggiator plugin or a recorded MIDI track in a seque...

I've been working with Earthmuse in fleshing out some good ideas for scripting harmonies/progressions recently. Earthmuse had a nice simple progression that I helped add some code to the other day, so I've rendered that down into a quick 4 minute piece. (No proper EQing or mixdown on this, so it mig...

Re: Strange MIDI CC Messages Sent When Play Starts

I'll put in a vote for configurable disabling of the CCs. As it is now, it causes Omnisphere part volumes to max out to +9.0db which is pretty awful sounding if you forget that it is going to happen. lol
