The demo at the following link, called "Bronze Leaf" was created with Noatikl, or rather two Noatikl sessions spliced together. http://www.soniccouture-gamelan.com/kontakt.htm Gongs were added afterwards, and there were a couple of small tweaks, but basically it's Tim and Pete in Bali. cheers Dan

I use Firefox on Mac and don't have this problem.

But... I do wish this forum had a "keep me logged in" option :-)

Hi Pete

I just checked, and yes it does.

If you have Cubase 4 for Mac, I can send you a file that demonstrates it?

cheers

Ah ha. That's very cool, thanks! One thing I notice though: If I have voice 2 following voice 1 with this chord delay method, and use it to double the speed, that's works. Then if I make a third voice, and voice 3 is set to follow voice 2 in the same way, it only follows the notes from voice 1, voic...

By the way Tim or Pete, if you're reading this. What I really need is for a Follow voice to be able to play extra notes if it's rhythm is set to be faster than the voice it's following. Notes that coincide should be the same, but extra notes between generated by it's own rules. Is that possible? che...

I'm so happy to see this thread! I've actually been working the opposite way up to Jamuud, but you know, all these things can work. Usually the core melody of a gamelan is in the midrange (trompong or ugal)... so I'll have that core melody composed by Noatikl in repeat mode, or with slow variations,...

Damper pedal is a nice idea, if I can figure it out.

My other quick solution is to bounce it to MIDI and hit command-L to legato the part. :-)

But then, it loses the 'doubt' of course.

Perhaps then, duration could be completely divorced from rhythm (if you choose), and choosing durations could be a rule set?

double duration?

Maybe this is a simple thing to do, but I haven't been able to figure it out. If I have a "follow voice", playing every other note of the voice it's following, it puts rests inbetween on the notes it's not playing. Is there a simple way to force the following voice to double it's durations, so that ...

Sudden Blast of Notes on Record

Does anyone else ever get a sudden blast of notes at the very start of a piece? I'll often be looping around in my sequencer, with Noatikl running on several channels, tweaking the behaviour. Then, when I decide to record a section, the very first beat has a lot of very long notes, and many doubled ...

if I set a scale rule for G minor, and in the "next note" section select notes outside the scale, what happens?

Scale rules over all, in my experience so far, and thank god this seems to be so. Otherwise I'd be mired in confusion.

I especially like the drums, what are you using for those?

Since Noatikl is dealing entirely with MIDI, the best option is if Noatikl allows you to work with an arbitrary collection of pitch classes (ie. not necessarily major or minor scales), and then the pitch classes are mapped to the correct tunings in the destination synth.... in my opinion. :-) Excite...
