noatikl 1.5.0.4

Postby impete » Tue Feb 05, 2008 8:31 pm

We have updated noatikl to version 1.5.0.4

This includes the following updates:
- Scripting!
Use custom Lua scripts within your noatikl compositions; this allows noatikl
to automatically control itself in custom ways while it is playing.
This hugely extends the possibilities for the music you can create with
noatikl.
- MIDI Input controls
Use MIDI controllers to manipulate noatikl in custom ways in real-time.
Turn noatikl into a hyperinstrument that responds direct to incoming
MIDI note data.
- Improved display and edit of multi-line text parameters
- Store and edit custom text notes for your piece and voices.
- Fixed hanging notes problems
- Updated splash screen :)

Thanks Ken! :)

We think we have delivered a _major_ increase in functionality, so have bumped it to V1.5. noatikl now has a powerful trans-generative music engine at its core. We say trans-generative because we think that in allowing direct external structural and live control of noatikl, we are now giving noatikl and generative music in general a whole other dimension (like going from 2D to 3D).

Hope you like it and have fun with it!

In case this isn't clear, noatikl 1.0 licencees can upgrade to noatikl 1.5 simply by downloading and installing the new software.

In other words, if you have a noatikl 1.0 license, you can use this automatically with noatikl 1.5 ... we hope you enjoy it! :)

So, many thanks :) to all our customers, and we hope you find noatikl 1.5 to be worth the wait!

It's probably a good time to mention that Logic users who like to use noatikl standalone will need to make some changes to the configuration of their IAC driver/Midipipe/whatever if they want to use the new Listening option without getting stuck in a midi feedback loop.

Suggestions on how to go about this are at the bottom of the page here

Pete - Would it be an idea to copy that guidance to the "Using noatikl standalone with Logic" section of the user guide as well?

Done! I also changed the link in your post, as I moved the data around a bit in the documentation. Thanks for the suggestion - and for compiling those notes for us all in the first place. :D
