filtering midi cc data?

Post by spidergod » Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:31 pm

Hello

Have come across a bit of a bizarre and annoying issue with midi cc data and ableton live.

I am trying to modulate some of abletons controls via noatikl and midi cc data.

it seems when using abletons midi learn (ctrl-m) it picks up note data and midi cc data, now if you are lucky and stop the midi learn when it shows midi cc (e.g chan 1 midi cc 15) it works fine and smooth, yet if you miss it by a second and it picks up note data it acts erratically.

Just wondering if there is a way of filtering the data?

thanks

On the Win platform, MidiOx was always my weapon of choice.

On the Mac, use MidiPipe

yeah I have midox - probably need to read the manual.

what I need is probably a script per voice to drop midi note data and allow only midi cc data to go through.

3rd party vst's seem to filter the data.

It seems ableton is a bit too sensitive.

ok using midi ox and the filter system works only on 1 voice per midi channel (or so it seems)

e.g I have voice 1 sending midi cc data on 102

&

voice 2 sending midi cc data on 103

Using midi ox to filter note on and note off and only allowing midi cc data :

setup lfo on voice 1 and set update to 500, turned off mode on voice 2
set ableton playing
ctrl-m
clicked on eq 8 channel 1 gain knob : mapped perfectly and only midi cc data coming through
ctrl-m
stopped ableton playing

in noatikl :
turned off mode in voice 1
turned on mode to lfo min to max on voice 2 which is sending out midi cc data channel 1 103
set ableton playing
ctrl m
eq 8 channel 2 gain knob : picking up midi note data and midi cc data
now pulling hair out and writing this ....

if anyone has any ideas where I am going wrong please lte me know

thanks
