Albums that featured Koan

Postby impete » Sat Dec 15, 2007 11:12 am

I thought it might be fun if we had somewhere on the forum where we could report when we spot old albums that used Koan Pro.

The ones that we all might know about include:
- Generative Music 1 by Brian Eno
- Float by Tim Didymus
- Niskala by Dave Muddyman of Loop Guru

Here is my one you might not know about:
http://www.ochre.co.uk/ochalbums.htm
Glide by Echo and the Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant.
It features:
A thirty-one minute experimental piece 'Frozen Teardrop in Space' a track that Sergeant has created using sseyo-koan pro-generative software.

If you've ever had your own music published featuring Koan, don't be shy, list it here! :)

Koan Loop Gurooviness

Postby Jamuud » Tue Jan 29, 2008 1:55 am

I used Koan Pro to generate elements for tracks on several Loop Guru Albums. Mostly to create added orchestration, tuned percussion sections, percussion variations, or just general weirdness. Sometimes, though, Koan played an essential part in the initial composition of a piece.

Albums Koan Pro was used on:

Loop Bites Dog
Bathtime
Elderberry Shiftglass
Amrita - All these and the Japanese Soup Warriors
The Fountains of Paradise
Catalogue of Desires

I did a 4 track album "Seeds of Terror" that was included as part of the "Dark Symphony" suite.

You can hear 3 of the four tracks from http://www.garageband.com/artist/SonicViz

I'll have to put these up on my main music site http://music.sonicviz.com - been a few years since I thought about this album!
