Wotja Core midi making AUM crash on iPad

Postby Carnbot » Thu Aug 10, 2017 11:52 am

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I've been using Wotja sending midi to synths hosted in AUM on iPad and if I have core midi set on then eventually it makes all the faders go crazy and crash AUM and the ipad audio. So I have to leave virtual midi on and core midi turned off.

It must be sending out a surge of midi ccs which are mapped to the faders but I can't figure out why.

What's the difference between using Core midi and virtual midi? I forget the difference :)

I think I've found another bug, not totally sure I might have a setting wrong. But most of the sub menus in the Voice settings are blank.
E.g if I go to a voice, then basics, then select voice type, the next page shows nothing.

The same for patch, units in ambient setting, Follow voice in following section etc
And some others too.

Also where do you find the listening voices?
I cannot find them in the app and from the user guide it seems they should be in the voice settings too.

Many thanks for checking this out :)

Hi Carnbot,

Thanks for letting me know - I'm on leave at the moment, but will check this once I get back.

Best wishes,

Hi Carnbot,

We've fixed that bug in 4.10.1 - it should go live in a few days - thanks again for letting us know.

Virtual MIDI - individual app-specific MIDI ports that apps are allowed to use to connect to each other.

Core MIDI - the common core MIDI event channel that can be shared by all apps.

Hoping that explains things.

If in doubt, try to stick to Virtual MIDI - I guess there is a chance that if using Core MIDI, you might end-up with MIDI event feedback loops, which could lead to apps crashing (I'm speculating, but that feels like it could be the sort of reason).

Best wishes,

Pete

Great, thanks for the quick fix :)

About the core midi thing, yes that makes sense, probably a feedback loop thing happening.

Hi Carnbot,

No problem!

We yesterday submitted the update to Apple, so it should go live in just a day or two!

Best wishes,

Pete
