Re: quick noob questions
Hi, and welcome to the forum!
You'll find the guide on how to get started with Ableton 7 and Noatikl here...
http://www.intermorphic.com/tools/noati ... leton_vsti
Do please let us know how you get on!
I'd be interested to hear if anybody out there is yet using Noaitkl with Ableton 8!
With best wishes,
Pete

Re: quick noob questions
so far even that is of no help. it seem i get no sound at all besides the standard midicard sounds. im no newbie with ableton so something is going wrong here. i bought this for the specific reason of sending generative midi notes to vsts and soft synths.

Re: quick noob questions
Hi!
Just to check:
- I presume that Ableton 8 can see Noatikl?
- Noatikl only generates MIDI sounds when used within Ableton?
Can you please tell me which MIDI device you've set-up Noatikl to send its MIDI data to, through Noatikl's "Midi Output" combo box?
And one more check: are you using Windows or Mac?
With best wishes,
Pete

Re: quick noob questions
Fabulous news - very pleased to hear you got it working.
Are there any tips on how to hook it up, that you can share with fellow Noatikl / Ableton 8 users?
With best wishes,
Pete

Re: quick noob questions
well. i run everything on a macbook pro. the first mistake for me was trying to work with midi pipe. its a great program but really i prefer the built IAC drivers. i also think it was a problem inside ableton. i recently switched over to 8, but as all new programs i had to get a new bug-fix update. in my original post was dealing with 8.01 but with 8.02 it just instantly worked. i admit im alittle lost when it comes to the rules. ive tinkered and already got great results but i cant wait to REALLY know whats going on and control it better. any hints in that direction?

Re: quick noob questions
Well, I'd just focus on doing something really simple, and have some fun just focusing on getting the feel for one rule at a time.
Create one voice, and listen to what happens when you change just the scale rule.
Then play with the Next Note Rule, and listen to what happens as you adjust that.
Then play with the rhythm rule to get a feel for how it works for Rhythmic voices.
Then add another voice, and start experimenting with the Harmony rule.
Experimentation and "feel' is the key, that is one of the fun things about Noatikl, you really start to develop a feel for it. In that regard, Noatikl is a little bit like using a musical instrument; albeit one over which you give-up some control ... in exchange for a different type of control.
Best wishes,
Pete
